“Improving Donor Conversations – Investment Foundations for Development Professionals”

This presentation is for development professionals who are seeking to boost their knowledge of the investment side of planned giving, and to strengthen their conversations with donors about life income gifts. This session will equip participants with a better understanding and comfort level of what donors know and what they may be thinking from an investment/financial perspective. This presentation will allow for better conversations between development professionals and internal finance partners.   (CFRE Credit Pending)
Presenter: Colin Connolly, CFP, CTFA; VP, Senior Planned Giving Investment Specialist; PNC Institutional Asset Management.
Colin is a planned giving investment specialist for PNC Institutional Asset Management®. He coordinates the delivery of investment solutions for Planned Giving client portfolios. His key responsibilities include: maintaining strong relationships with clients by providing thought leadership, education and insights; managing portfolios in accordance with the client’s investment objectives and applicable state annuity regulations; providing recommendations to allocations based upon the client’s needs; and supporting the development of new business relationships. His area of focus is investment programs designed for charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and pooled income funds.

Storytelling is an essential component of how we convey our missions, describe our work to Boards and colleagues and relay the benefits of planned gifts to donors. In this presentation, we’ll discuss the ways stories can help us make connections and partner with varied constituencies to help us accomplish our organizational goals. (CFRE Credit Pending)
Presenter: Michelle Mancini, Senior Director, Wealth Consultant, American Cancer Society
Michelle Mancini Bachman is a Senior Director, Wealth Consultant for the American Cancer Society (ACS).  In her role, she oversees charitable gift planning for the organization in Ohio, Michigan, and works with the planned giving team nationwide.  In funding the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving work in cancer research, patient support, and advocacy, the team works to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. Prior to joining the ACS, Michelle was the Campaign Coordinator for the Cincinnati Clean Indoor Air Coalition. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Charitable Gift Planners.  She currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Greater Cincinnati Planned Giving Council and has served as President of the Board. She is a Committee Board Member of Cooperative for Education and served as the Vice Chair of Xavier University’s Women of Excellence Council and the Advisory Board for the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network.  Michelle graduated cum laude from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Business Administration. She is currently pursuing her Master of Global Health degree at Ohio University.
