Not all charitable gifts are created equally. While often times a charitable gift can be accomplished by simply writing a check, that is not always what the donor wants. Planned giving officers want to make giving easy for donors, but when more complicated strategies are used or illiquid assets are contributed, it is easier to make mistakes. We will present case studies on charitable gifts gone wrong and how to avoid potential pitfalls associated with implementing more complex charitable transfers.
